Wedding Venues in Cheshire

Wedding Venues in Cheshire

Below are listed some of the wedding venues in Cheshire we have had experience photographing at in recent years and can recommend - together with a short description and our opinion of the venue from a wedding photographers view point.

Alderley Edge Hotel – Alderley Edge, Cheshire

“A photographers dream if the weather is good, with lovely gardens and views over the Cheshire Plain. The staff are always ultra-professional and the food/wine superb. This venue is a little pricey, but you get what you pay for !”

Pictures from a recent wedding at The Alderley Edge Hotel, Alderley Edge, Cheshire can be seen HERE

Adlington Hall – Adlington, Cheshire

“Almost perfect for wedding photographers and wedding pictures, but if you have booked The Hunting Lodge there is nowhere to take pictures indoors  if the weather is bad. Also beware that an additional charge is made to access the gardens and no pictures can be taken in front of the hall if the owners are in residence. A great venue with excellent staff and a superb backdrop for wedding photographs with only a couple of ‘negatives’ – definitely worth a look!”

Arley Hall – Cheshire

“Breathtaking location and if you have the budget definitely one to consider. They are the only hotel we know however where the wedding photographer has to pay a 10% fee to be put on their recommended supplier listing!! I prefer the system most venues use where GOOD wedding photographers are recommended and not just the ones the venue makes money from”

Belle Epoque – Knutsford, Cheshire

“A strange location this one! Lovely and characterful inside but has one of the darkest ceremony rooms I have ever encountered. Romantic, yes. Good for photographs?, no. The only area for ‘formal’ wedding photographs is on a postage stamp sized area of lawn at the rear of the hotel so we usually end up on Knutsfords main St for the pictures!. The staff are helpful. professional and friendly and so this venue would suit a couple who want a small wedding and don’t mind quirky, artistic wedding photographs (which we love taking!)”

Bramall Hall, Bramall, Cheshire

“Black and White, and very pretty. Lots of public can be around as the grounds are usually open during your wedding and the building could do with a little ‘tidying up’ but it is still a great venue and everyone there makes you feel very special. A wedding photographers dream”

Bredbury Hall Hotel and Country Club, Bredbury, Cheshire

“If you want a party and a great evening ‘do’ then look no further, but if you want a more formal, elegant event then maybe look elsewhere. Famous in the 1970’s for it’s disco nights it still has something of a reputation as a ‘night-spot’. Will suit some couples perfectly if they enjoy a lively time”

Bridge Hotel – Prestbury, Cheshire

“Small, characterful and smart. Great staff and lovely food make this certainly a venue to consider. Prestbury is a lovely place, but beware of the limited parking if you have a large wedding”

Britannia Hotel – Stockport, Cheshire

At first this might not seem the most attractive of venues, but the staff are professional and well orgainsed and I have never shot a bad wedding at the venue.

“Take a look..... you might be suprised!”

Capesthorne Hall – Macclesfield, Cheshire

“Absolutely perfect in every way and one of my top ten all-time favourite venues. They have only recently started holding weddings in the Hall so are really making an effort. Definitely a venue I would recommend, and it’s surprisingly inexpensive!”

Carden Park Hotel – Chester, Cheshire

“Even the England football team stay here! It’s a modern building adjacent to a championship golf course, but it’s very private, posh and special (oh…. I nearly forgot… expensive!)"

Chester Moat House – Chester, Cheshire

“A modern hotel in a lovely city. Relatively inexpensive and well located. Worth a look if you want a city wedding in a modern hotel”

Chester Zoo – Chester, Cheshire

You don't get married in the lion enclosure, but in the lovely Oakfield Manor which sits in the lovely grounds within the zoo walls. The Manor is a lovely country house set amongst mature trees,

“Get married in a zoo? Well, it’s very nice. There is an old hall in the grounds used for the ceremony – and you can then go to the Monkey Enclosure for your pictures!”

Chimney House Hotel – Sandbach, Cheshire

“Brilliant location just yards from the M6, but you get married right next to the public bar which isn’t closed during weddings. Great value but limited photo locations and not the most romantic place, but I have shot some lovely weddings here.”

You can view pictures from a recent wedding at The Chimney House Hotel HERE

Comberemere Abbey – The Glasshouse – Whitchurch, Cheshire

“It’s like getting married in a large conservatory in the middle of a rose garden. Very romantic and different. "

Cottons Hotel – Knutsford, Cheshire

A modern hotel that;'s a favourite of businessmen and wedding couples alike. Even David Beckham chose it for the christening of his first child.

“A modern hotel mainly catering for businessmen during the week, this place has become a very popular venue at weekends for weddings. The staff are professional and well organised and I have never experienced a bad wedding there – and I must have photographed 20 in the past 3 years. Not the best for wedding photographs as there are no gardens, just a car-park, but in every other way a sensible choice”

You can view pictures from a recent wedding we have photographed at Cottons Hotel HERE

Crabwell Manor – Chester, Cheshire

“A lovely venue in a lovely location and always one to consider in an area that has so many great wedding venues”

Cranage Hall – Cranage, Holmes Chapel, Cheshire

This hotel has changed hands several times over recent years, but each time the new owners have improved it. It is now one of the most sought after wedding venues in Cheshire.

“A spectacular building that has recently undergone a thorough make-over inside. If yours is the only event taking place it is a perfcet venue”

Cresta Court – Altrincham

A Best Western hotel situated close to Manchester city center

Crewe Hall – Crewe, Cheshire

An Impressive Cheshire wedding venue. Getting slightly 'tatty' around the edges but great for wedding photography!

View pictures from a recent wedding at Crewe Hall HERE

“Old fashioned, wooden panelled and very traditional. A great venue for a formal wedding and lovely grounds make for great wedding photographs.”

Deanwater Hotel – Woodford, Cheshire

“A country house hotel with a charming character and professional staff. I wouldn’t say it was ‘perfect’ in any way, but it ‘ticks all the boxes’ and I have never photographed a bad wedding there”

You can view pictures taken a recent wedding at The Deanwater Hotel HERE,

De Vere – Daresbury Park, Cheshire

“A modern hotel. Great if you like modern, arty pictures!”

De Vere – Wychwood Park, Crewe, Cheshire

“A typical De Vere hotel, but set in lovely grounds and always a pleasure to visit as a photographer”

Gawsthorne Hall – Macclesfield, Cheshire

A small venue but very beautiful and located in one of my favourite parts of Cheshire (we are based just 3 miles away!). Can only cater for 50 guests unless you hire a marquee but if you are having a small wedding this is one to look at. Great for us wedding photographers.

Grosvenor Pulford Hotel – Chester, Cheshire

A hotel with large grounds, lake, bridge, and  gazebo. The courtyard is great for your wedding photographs.

Grosvenor Hotel – Chester, Cheshire

“A venue for those with a big budget. Nowhere outdoors for photographs but it’s location in the heart of Chester mean we can use the streets. A 5 Star hotel who really look after you (but you have to wear a tie to eat in the restaurant)”

Pictures from a recent wedding at The Chester Grosvenor can be seen HERE

Hartford Hall Hotel – Northwich, Cheshire

A hotel run by the brewers Marstons. Quite an unusual wedding venue but one we enjoy taking wedding photographs at.

Haslington Hall, Crewe, Cheshire

The Sir Francis Vernon Suite holds just 80 people so not suitable for a huge wedding, but the Hall is stunning, the staff friendly and the grounds good for wedding photographers.

Heaton House Farm, Cheshire

“It’s a farm with plenty of land but limited locations for pictures apart from open  fields and an oak tree. Not the prettiest of venue’s, but the staff are friendly and give ‘the personal touch’. Highly recommended”

Hollin Hall Hotel – Macclesfield, Cheshire

“A very busy venue always seem to attract wedding couples with it’s competitive pricing and good location. Formal pictures outdoors have to be taken on a field 50 yards below the hotel which means a walk down a steep path, but apart from that it’s a good venue”

Hoole Hall – Chester, Cheshire

One of the most popular wedding venues in Cheshire

Inglewood  Manor – Cheshire

“A dream venue and very nearly perfect in every way – have shot some great Christmas weddings here”

Mere Golf and Country Club, Cheshire

Mere Golf & Country Club’s is great location for a wedding, set in lovely grounds surrounding a lake. It has a huge capacity (can cater for over 500 people) so is a favourite venue for Asian weddings (and golfers!)

Mere Court Hotel – Knutsford, Cheshire

Stunning. Simply stunning. Set in 7 acres of Cheshire countryside this venue has always been one of our favourites.

“one of my top 3 wedding venues. I really can’t think of any negatives about this venue. Would recommend it to anyone”

You can view pictures taken a recent wedding at The Mere Court Hotel HERE, HEREHERE, HERE, HERE and HERE

Mollington Banastre Hotel – Chester, Cheshire

A Best Western Hotel with limited scope for wedding photographers but plenty of other facilities.

Moorside Grange Hotel - Higher Disley

A Best Western Hotel set in beautiful rolling hills on the Cheshire/Derbyshire border. Once a really top wedding venue where 'anyone who was anyone' in the area got married, it has now lost some of it's original 'glam', but is still a lovel setting for a romantic wedding. The staff are friendly and efficient and the management are really making an effort to get wedding business - offering a 2010 wedding fro 2010 pounds. (30 people, all food, room hire and drinks etc!). Give it a try - and hope for good weather.

Mottram Hall Hotel – Prestbury, Cheshire

Another De Vere Hotel. They seem to have so many great wedding venues in Cheshire!

“A large commercial hotel with pleanty of bedrooms and a great golf course. Stunning grounds and good location make this a venue that is worth a look. The only problem I have ever had at the venue is the small reception desk which means checking in guests can take a while if they all arrive at once”

You can view pictures taken at a recent wedding at Mottram Hall HERE and HERE

Nunsmere Hall Hotel – Northwich, Cheshire

A luxury hotel in  Delamere forest. The Lake is great for wedding pictures(and the sunken garden is not too bad either!) Perfect for wedding photographers.

Oaklands Hall Masonic Lodge - Hyde, Cheshire

Not the best venue for wedding photographers but good value !

Pictures from a recent wedding at Oaklands Hall can be seen HERE

Park Royal Hotel – Warrington, Cheshire

A bit of a strange location but there are some grounds and surrounding fields which make for stunning wedding photography.

Peckforton Castle – Peckforton

The perfect wedding venue - bar none! Set heart of Cheshir this venue looks like a medieval castle but was actually built in Victorian times. Absoluteley perfect in every way.

“Simply the best. No further comment required. If you have the money, book it, dont waste time looking elsewhere!”

Pictures from a recent wedding we have photographed at Peckforton Castle can be viewed HERE and HERE and HERE

Peover Golf Club

Have a quick round before you get married! This is quite a modern venue, but it has been skillfully designed to give a light and airy atmosphere and is suprisingly romantic.

Plough at Eaton – Eaton, Cheshire

"Great, intimate venue with flexible staff and superb food. If you want something a little different go and take a look!"

Portal Hotel and Golf Club – Cheshire

A Macdonald  hotel at the end of a tree-lined drive set in  Cheshire countryside. There are plenty of photo opportunities in the private grounds, so overall it's pretty good!!

Pictures from a recent wedding we have photographed at Portal Hotel and Golf Club can be viewed HERE

Rookery Hall – Nantwich, Cheshire

Rookery Hall Hotel is one of those places that you dream of getting married in. Characterful, atmospheric and not too big. I personally know of a maager at a top competing wedding venue in Cheshire chose to get married here in preference to his own hotel!!! (no names)

Sandhole Oak Barn – Congleton, Cheshire

“In my top 3 venues. Attentive owner and fantastic staff with great caterers called Top Table. Lovely location, especially in good weather”

You can view pictures from a recent wedding at Sandhole Oak Wedding Barn HERE, HERE , HERE and HERE

Shrigley Hall Hotel – Macclesfield, Cheshire

Pictures from weddings at Shrigley Hall can be seen HERE

Stanneylands Hotel – Wilmslow, Cheshire

“Oak panelling and old-fashioned style. This country house house is where I got married in 1990!!!”

Statham Lodge Hotel – Lymm, Cheshire.

Not bad !

Stockport Town Hall – Stockport, Cheshire

An elegant Town Hall that can cater for large weddings, making it ideal for Asian weddings

No grounds make it a little awkward for wedding photographs but it's still a great venue.

Pictures from a recent wedding at Stockport Town Hall can be seen HERE

Styal Lodge, Cheshire

Perfect for wedding photographers!

Swettenham Arms – Swettenham, Cheshire

Set in Cheshire countryside this timbered 17th century pub is great for weddings. Lovely gardens and only a few yards from St Peters Church

The Lymm Hotel – Lymm, Cheshire

Set in the village of Lymm

Vale Royal Abbey - Cheshire

A golf club on the site of an old Abbey that now caters for weddings (as well as golfers). Suprisingly few locations for wedding photographs as the rear of the building borders private apartments and the front part reserved for golfers only. The large car-park at the front of the building is also for golfers only - so wedding guests have to park some distance away. Not the ideal compromise between Golf Club and wedding venue - it is definately more Golf Club (make sure the windows are closed when you get married as the ceremony room overlooks the driving nets and so golfers practicing can clearly be heard in the room).

See pictures from a recent wedding at Vale Royal Abbey HERE

Wild Boar Hotel – Tarporley, Cheshire

A black and white 19th century coaching inn in landscaped gardens make this a romantic place for a wedding. The staff are attentive and, efficient and the location great for wedding photographs..
