The Wedding of Matt and Rachael Hassall – Mere Court Hotel, Cheshire

Bank Holiday weekends are always busy for us and this was no exception – with two weddings in 3 days. Following the awful weather on Friday we had our fingers crossed for Sunday, but in the end it only rained for about 10 minutes – the rest of the day was perfect for wedding photographs with bright conditions and no sunshine.

The locations chosen by Matt and Rachael for the wedding were perfect. Christ Church in Altrincham and The Mere Court Hotel in Knutsford, Cheshire. Mere Court is one of our four ‘favourite venues’ and is great for wedding photography being set in lovely Cheshire countryside with fine gardens and a characterful interior. (It also has one of the brightest rooms for the wedding breakfast, making photographing the speeches a joy!)

My assistant started the day at Racheal’s house, photographing her getting ready while I went to The King George pub to photograph the guys. It was then on to Christ Church where I had the pleasure of working with a great vicar and verger, both of whom were flexible as to what we ‘could’ and ‘could not’ do during the ceremony. It amazes me the stories I hear of wedding photographers walking about and intruding during the most important part of the day – the ceremony itself – this makes vicars very wary about allowing wedding photographers to photograph in the church. We are always respectful of the fact it is a place of worship and stay well out of the way during the exchange of vows and only photograph from a distance and without flash.

After the ceremony it was on to Mere Court Hotel where the celebrations continued well into the night.

Thank you to Matt and Rachel for making us so welcome and to Ashley for organising the photography and making sure we were looked after. Thanks also for your kind text message and to Rachael for telephoning this morning to say thank you. We hope you like the pictures!
