Welcome to our Blog – Our life as wedding photographers
This blog gives a more in-depth insight into Northwest Photography and it's innovative work as the North Wests leading wedding photographers.
You will see pictures from recent wedding, album page designs and details of how we create fantatsic wedding pictures that capture the atmosphere of your special day.
Some photographers produce great pictures, but require you to pose for several hours in order to get them. We produce incredible images without posing you too much, allowing you to spend more time with your family and friends. It is a skill we have developed over the past 14 years as wedding photographers!
You can read articles in date order below or contact us by clicking the 'contact' option on the menu at the top of any page. We hope you enjoy your visit to our website.

Last week we were asked to spend the day at The Palace Hotel in Manchester to photograph wedding images to be used in the hotels promotional material (website, brochure etc)
We arrived at the hotel (on Oxford St in Manchester city center) at 6.30am ! and photographed throughout the day until 7pm. Several of the function rooms had been set up as for a wedding and models employed to pose as the bride and groom.
It was a long day but some great shots were obtained in what turned out to be very difficult circumstances,
A few pictures from the shoot at The Palace Hotel can be seen below.
The last time we photographed a wedding at Combermere Abbey it took place in The Glasshouse, a conservatory attached to the wall of the apple orchard. This venue was great if the weather was good, but very restricting if it rained. so it was a pleasant surprise when we arrived at the venue to find a huge 'pavilion' had been built since our last visit. This has transformed the venue into one of the best in the Cheshire/Shropshire area.
Combermere Abbey has always been idyllically situated in the middle of beautiful countryside, and the addition of the pavilion has made it perfect for wedding photographers. The wedding we photographed 2 weeks agol took place in the glasshouse, but the reception made use of the new pavilion. We had a lovely bride and groom, really great guests, and weather that only let us down right at the end of the day.
We had a perfect day and the bride and groom were really 'in love'. (making for great wedding photographs).
A few example pictures from the wedding are shown below along with a video montage of wedding pictures (given free to the bride and groom at each wedding)
Last weekend we photographed a wedding at the lovely Rookery Hall in Cheshire.
Rookery Hall is a very special wedding venue and fantastic for wedding photography. It is in the 'top 10' wedding venues for most wedding photographers in Cheshire.
We started the day photographing the lovely bride at her home before moving on to the wedding ceremony which was heard at St Mary's Church in the lovely Cheshire village of Lymm.
After the ceremony the wedding party headed to Rookery Hall for what was a fantastic celebration. The staff at the hotel are in a league of their own (second in my opinion only to The Lowry Hotel in Manchester)
Very bright sunshine made the technical side of the wedding photography very difficult and so the photographers couldn't make use of some the stunning areas around the hotel, but the photo's are still really good and with so many options there was still many location we could use.
We stayed into the evening to photograph the first dance and then returned to our studio to process the pictures which were online the following day.
A few examples from the wedding at Rookery Hall can be seen below.
Last weekend our final wedding was at the ever reliable Deanwater Hotel in Cheshire.
This was a small wedding with only about 35 people, so it was perfect for the Deanwater Hotels smaller function suite. (The larger Balmoral suite was in use by another wedding)
The Deanwater Hotel is perfectly located in the center of Cheshire and is a favourite with wedding photographers. The hotel has lovely grounds and a great bridge over a narrow stream that always looks good in wedding photographs.
The bride and groom had a great, intimate wedding with their close family and friends. We managed to take some great black and white pictures at the event,
Some pictures form the wedding at the Deanwater Hotel can be seen below.
Soughton Hall is a great wedding venues, and last weekend we were there for a fantastic wedding.
Set in the North Wales countryside, Soughton Hall is a spectacular country house hotel with fantastic grounds and a stunning interior. The wedding breakfast itself took place in a marquee at the rear of the hall (it is sometimes held in the upstairs function room) and the weather (for a change) was perfect.
Our day started at St John The Devine Church on The Wirral where a very 'modern' vicar hosted a fun and light-hearted wedding ceremony – but most of the wedding photography took place at Soughton Hall.
Unlike Cheshire, Manchester, Lancashire and even The Wirral, North Wales does not have many good wedding venues, but this is certainly one of them! If is absolutely perfect for wedding photographs and would be in our top 10 wedding venues if it wasn't for the slightly rude and at times arrogant staff, many of whom are still at school!
A fantastic day was enjoyed by the bride and groom and guests. Thank you for making me feel so welcome.
A few pictures from the wedding at Soughton Halll can be seen below along with a short video montage.
The weekend before last saw us photographing a wedding at The Hey Green Hotel. A wedding venue in Marsden, Lancashire.
The day started (as is usually the case) with us photographing the bride as she got ready for the wedding ceremony before the wedding itself at St James' church in Shaw, Lancashire.
The bride arrived in a lovely looking Beauford wedding car – but suffered the same problem as all brides who book such a car. It is impossible to get out of elegantly!! She finally made it into the church before the heavens opened and down came the rain!
After the wedding ceremony it was a quick dash into the car for the windy and rainy drive to The Hey Green Hotel in Marsden.
The Hey Green Hotel is a wedding venue we visit only a few times each year, but it is attractive for wedding photographers and offers plenty of scope for photographs. It is set in the heart of the Lancashire hills and only really has The Saddleworth Hotel as local competition for weddings. The staff were friendly and efficient and the rest of the day went without a hitch despite the poor weather.
A few pictures from the wedding at The Hey Green Hotel can be seen below along with our usual video montage.
