We still have 4 more weddings to photograph before the end of year, but the pictures from those won’t be processed until the final week of 2010, so we have decided to put them into ‘next year’ and select our favourite wedding photograph from the weddings we have already shot.

It was a really difficult choice as we have photographed some stunning weddings this year at some lovely venues. We wanted to select a picture that really captures our ‘house style’, which is fun, creative and yet taken without being obtrusive or posing anyone. (pictures are almost always more flattering when the subject doesn’t realise the photographer is there!)

The favourite picture ended up being one that doesn’t feature a bride or a groom – just two flower girls!. It was taken last month at Sandhole Oak Barn in Cheshire when the two girls just couldn’t stop giggling. There was no posing and was shot rapidly without much thought for composition or camera settings. Technically we have taken many better pictures during 2010 – this one has a ‘drain-pipe’ in the background, un-appealing brickwork and UPVC windows in full view – but the expressions on the girls faces really sums up the fun and happiness of the event – so it gets our vote!

We used our faithfull Nikon D700  with a 24-70mm zoom lens (at full zoom) and no flash.

Our favourite picture of 2010 taken at Sandhole Oak Barn, Cheshire

No matter how much planing goes into a wedding no one can predict the great British weather. But don’t despair – whilst you may feel rain will ruin your wedding rain, the reality is you will hardly notice. As wedding photographers we can do a lot to help. We bring 24 umbrellas with us (12 white and 12 black) that look really good in your photographs and also white cork wedges in every size so you won’t ruin your special shoes by walking on wet grass in them.

We don’t do what most wedding photographers do and hide you inside if it is raining. We make sure that even it is just for a few minutes, we take you outside and make the most of the weather. Some great moody, artistic pictures can be shot in the rain.

So don’t worry about the weather! Below are some pictures we have shot in appalling weather.
