We arrived at the hotel (on Oxford St in Manchester city center) at 6.30am ! and photographed throughout the day until 7pm. Several of the function rooms had been set up as for a wedding and models employed to pose as the bride and groom.

It was a long day but some great shots were obtained in what turned out to be very difficult circumstances,

This is without doubt our most popluar wedding venue. We shoot at least 10 weddings here every year. Shrigley Hall Hotel is set in stunning Cheshire countryside and is a wedding photographers dream. It is a large country hotel with terrific golf course and grounds. Some wedding venues have glorious grounds but there is nowhere to photograph indoors  if the weather is poor. Shrigley Hall however has the best staircase for photographs I have ever seen, and a private courtyard at the back that is perfect if the weather is good. The staff are very experienced at dealing with wedding celebrations and the service is excellent. In fact there is only one thing I can think of that is in anyway a ‘negative’. Shrigley Hall is so large it can hold 3 weddings at the same time which can lead to all three wedding parties wanting to use the best locations for photographs at the same time. Just make sure when you book you wedding there are not any others taking place at the same time. Apart from that, it’s perfect ! Above are pictures we have taken recently at Shrigley Hall.

A purpose built Oak Barn located just outside Congleton in Cheshire and next to a large lake make this a glamourous venue for those couples with a larger budget. What makes this place worth every penny is the professionalism of the owner David Worth. At no other venue do I see the owner present at every wedding, making sure everything is just perfect. The barn is located next to a courtyard surrounded by rooms that can be booked by guests. If the weather is good this place is perfection – and there is now custom-landscaped area in front of the barn which offers a lovely backdrop for wedding photographs. This venue is a wedding photographers dream with a stunning lake, a large terrace and even a flood-lit tree for romantic evening shots. We highly recommend the caterers ‘top table’ at this venue – they are professional, friendly and always deliver fantastic food!

Want a venue that will make you feel like a fairy-tale princess and have a reasonable budget? Look no further than Peckforton Castle. You can even land by helicopter. It’s the chossen venue of celebrities and sports stars… and for good reason. It makes for a spectacular backdrop in wedding photographs. 2 small issues to consider. 1) The location is in a remote part of Cheshire near Tarporley, so it’s not easy for your guests to get to by public transport, and 2) the main hall where the ceremony takes place is very dark. It is usually just lit by candles ! No problem for professional photographers with expensive cameras, but don’t expect your guests to take any good photographs indoors! (oh, just remembered, there is a third! – the peacocks on the lawn will wake you at 6am with their screeching!)

A lovely rural setting close to Knutsford in one of the most prestigous parts of Cheshire with a beautiful building and grounds, great staff and not too expensive! A  near-perfect venue. which is a wedding photographers dream. The function room is bright, airy and romantic and the staff are just fantastic. We shoot at least 8 weddings here each year and we have never experienced a bad one. The floodlit fountain at the front of the hotel is wonderful for romantic pictures at sunset. Would be 100% perfect if it wasn;t for the fact that if it is raining there is limited space inside the hotel for photographs. If you are getting married in South Cheshire it has to be here or Sandhole Oak Barn (which is quite a bit more expensive)
