  • Welcome to our Blog – Our life as wedding photographers

This blog gives a more in-depth insight into Northwest Photography and it's innovative work as the North Wests leading wedding photographers.

You will see pictures from recent wedding, album page designs and details of how we create fantatsic wedding pictures that capture the atmosphere of your special day.

Some photographers produce great pictures, but require you to pose for several hours in order to get them.  We produce incredible images  without posing you too much, allowing you to spend more time with your family and friends. It is a skill we have developed over the past 14 years as wedding photographers!

You can read articles in date order below or contact us by clicking the 'contact' option on the menu at the top of any page. We hope you enjoy your visit to our website.

Civil Partnership Wedding of Caroline and Rachel Horman-Smith, Red Lion, Burnsall, North Yorkshire

It was 85 miles away, it was raining most of the day and it took place in a small village pub/hotel ………. but what a fantastic day it was !!

Sunday saw us take the long drive to Burnsall near Skipton to photograph the civil partnership of Caroline and Rachel Horman-Smith. As wedding photographers we don’t often get the opportunity to photograph civil partnerships – but just like waiting for a bus, two have come at once (we are photographing another in two weeks time in Manchester at The Lowry Hotel).

We love Civil Partnership celebrations as the couple have much more flexibility in what is said and how the celebration is structured compared to a wedding.

The day started with a strange co-incidence. The day before we were photographing a wedding in Northwich where we met (and heard) a superb musical ensemble called The Bridgewater String Quartet – as I was walking across the pub car park prior to the ceremony who should I meet?….. the same string quartet. Over 80 miles from the other event and we bump into each other again! We hear many musical groups at weddings but trust me, these 4 musicians are superb.

I have said many times on this blog that good photographs are shot when we have characterful and cheerful people to work with. Today was a classic example. Everyone was happy, smiling and having fun – the rain didn’t matter – it was a fantastic day.  The happy couple were obviously so in love and had gone to extreme lengths to decorate the function room at The Red Lion in a quaint ‘country cottage’ look, even down to using vegetable decorations on the tables and bouquet rather than flowers.

I was a truly wonderful experience to share the celebrations with two such lovely people and their fantastic guests. Thanks to you all for making us feel so welcome.
