  • Welcome to our Blog – Our life as wedding photographers

This blog gives a more in-depth insight into Northwest Photography and it's innovative work as the North Wests leading wedding photographers.

You will see pictures from recent wedding, album page designs and details of how we create fantatsic wedding pictures that capture the atmosphere of your special day.

Some photographers produce great pictures, but require you to pose for several hours in order to get them.  We produce incredible images  without posing you too much, allowing you to spend more time with your family and friends. It is a skill we have developed over the past 14 years as wedding photographers!

You can read articles in date order below or contact us by clicking the 'contact' option on the menu at the top of any page. We hope you enjoy your visit to our website.

The Wedding of Richard and Charlie Field – Formby Hall Golf Club, Lancashire

What a busy weekend it has been! This wedding on Saturday 27th, another on Sunday 28th and a commercial photoshoot on Tuesday at dawn!

We are very busy wedding photographers and shoot at most popular venues thoughout Cheshire, Lancashire, Merseyside and The Lake District, but the venue for this wedding was one we were not too familiar with – so the pressure was on to get it right!

The day started with myself and my assistant visiting Charlie (Charlotte) at her mums home in Formby to shoot some ‘pre-wedding’ photographs capturing the atmosphere of the wedding preparations. It was then on to The Grapes public house where the ‘suits’ were enjoying a pint (or two!) There were 17 guys in formal atire during the day so it was quite a gathering.

The ceremony itself took place at St Peter’s Church in Formby and was a lovely event with a modern, friendly vicar. We stayed out of the way during the exchanging of vows so we didn’t intrude on the solemn moments, but as soon as the ceremony finished it was outside into the sunshine for confetti.

The wedding celebrations moved on to Formby Hall Golf Club – a modern venue used mainly for golf events. We got into a bit of trouble with a group of golfers as we held them up for at least 30 seconds while we used a grassed area at the side of the 18th hole for a big group shot (the only place one could be taken). Obviously a round of golf is far more important than a wedding!

It was a late night for us as we stayed to photograph the first dance at 8.30pm and didn’t return to the studio until 11pm. We immediately processed all the pictures, removed duplicates and did a bit of creative airbrushing before retiring to bed at 5am – which became 6am with the clocks going forward. A few hours sleep and up again at 9am for Sundays wedding (read next post!). A few pictures from today can be seen below. (These short videos are not of the quality presented to the bride and groom – they are much longer and in full HD resolution. We have to reduce the length/quality online to make them easily playable over an internet connection)

Mike,

Thank you for the fabulous photos you both took – we have spent hours looking at them already! Everyone was very impressed with your approach and how you have captured the day.

Some of the photos you took while we were not looking are brilliant.

We are off on honeymoon tomorrow, so will let you know the ones we choose for the album when we get back – we are struggling to narrow it down!

Thanks again

Charlie and Richard
