Even though it rarely snows in Cheshire we were forecast the worst snow for years during this wedding,  but that didn’t stop Mark and Jenny from enjoying there vintage themed wedding.

It might have been cold but everyone had tremendous fun. Jenny arrived in a lovely old VW Camper van and looked amazing in her new Jimmy Choo wedding shoes!

The wedding reception was held at The Black Swan in Lower Withington (now owned by the same people who also own The Swan Hotel and Spa in Newby Bridge – another great wedding venue). It was the first time we had photographed a wedding here. The building was really characterful and ‘quirky’ and made it easy for us wedding photographers to take some great pictures. Along with Sandhole Oak Barn and The Plough at Eaton this is now one of our favourite wedding venue sin South Cheshire.

A few photos can be seen below from this great winter wedding –

I have been a wedding photographer for 15 years and photograph over 100 weddings per year in the Cheshire, North West and Wales areas, so it is rare to visit a venue that I have not shot at before. But last November I photographed a wedding at Seiont Manor in Llanrug, North Wales – a venue I have not visited before.

The wedding of Elena and Neil was a great event, but the North Wales weather didn’t let me down – it rained….. and rained….. and rained all day long. I suppose it is to be expected in the mountainous region of North Wales in November! It was a pity, as the venue has some lovely outdoor areas in which to take wedding photographs – but I only had a 2 minute opportunity to take the bride and groom outdoors in between the storms and so could not make use of the lovely grounds. Elena didn’t want her dress getting wet and muddy (understandably), so only a very few pictures were taken outdoors.

Despite everything the day went well, and I managed some good wedding pictures – but I can’t wait to return to Seiont Manor in better weather to make the most of this lovely wedding venue! Wedding venue Website Seiont Manor

A few shots from the wedding can be seen below.

Regular readers of this blog will know that Sandhole Oak Wedding Barn is our favourite wedding venue, not just in Cheshire but in the whole of the UK.

Weddings at Sandhole are always fantastic events, and the wedding of Vic and Stu that we photographed recently was no exception.

The barn was looking like something out of a fairy-tale, decorated in seasonal white – and the bride and groom were truly lovely people.

A few pictures from this memorable wedding at Sandhole Oak Wedding Barn can be seen below.

We recently photographed an amazing wedding at the wonderful Peckforton Castle nr Tarporley in Cheshire. It is a wedding photographers dream to photograph at Peckforton, a true fairy-tale wedding venue.

The wedding saw Steph and Iain tie the knot – in some style. Steph wore an amazing 1950’s style white wedding dress with layers of red underskirts – she looked fantastic as she walked into The Great Hall at the castle to be greeted by her husband-to-be, Iain.

This mid-winter wedding saw us having to use all our experise as professional photographers as it was a bright sunny day with the sun low in the sky – creating all kinds of issues regarding shadows and harsh light. We really earned our money! (but the pictures wee fantastic)

If any bride is considering getting married at Peckforton Castle we would highly reccommend it as one of the best venues in Cheshire.

A few wedding photographs taken at the event can be seen below.

It is always a pleasure to venture south from our base in Cheshire to visit the lovely Rowton Castle. Last week we made such a journey to photograph the civil partneship of Robert and Tim and this great wedding venue.

A few photos can be seen below from Robert & Timothy’ civil ceremony

You know its going to be a great wedding when the groom and ushers arrive on bicycles!
John arrived at the wedding with his cycle-clips on and Lindsay arrived in a very battered VW Camper van – a very stylish entrance.
The wedding was quirky and fun – a style that suited the lovely Hillbark Hotel wich is situated within a private park on The Wirral, na n area surrounded by great wedding venues.
Lindsay looked stunning and the weather was perfect for wedding photography – a great day was had by all!

A few images from Lindsay and John’s happy day are below.

Just a few photographs from a recent we photographed at St Helens Church in Tarporley, Cheshire.
The wedding ceremony was followed by a fantastic reception in a huge marquee (good job the weather stayed fine!)

A few photo’s can be seen below from Erin and Thomas’ lovely day.

I have been installing a new backup system on my computers and needed to move some of the older wedding photographs from my main PC to the new backup system. In doing this I have been reviewing pictures that I took at weddings many years ago.

It has suprised me that although my style of wedding photography has changed and is constantly updating – I am still very pleased with the images I took many years ago. This is important as wedding pictures are seen for many decades after the event and if they are too ‘stylised’ they ‘date’ very quickly. I have always tried to photograph weddings in a style that is modern and contemporary, and yet will stand the test of time. I hope you agree!

A few of my favourite wedding pictures taken a long time ago are shown below – they have bought back some fond memories of great weddings from the past!

Once again I must apologise for not updating this blog for over two months – we have been so busy photographing weddings it has been difficult to find the time. Rest assured over the next two weeks we will be updating the site with pictures taken at the weddings we have shot over the summer and autumn.

The first of these was a great wedding at the lovely Soughton Hall in Flintshire.

Lousie and Gareth were unlucky with the weather – it poured down for most of the day – but for us professional wedding photographers we have to ‘take it in our stride’ and cope as best we can.

Despite the weather Soughton Hall looked as good as ever and the wedding was a fantastic event.

A few example pictures from the wedding of Gareth and Louise at Soughton Hall can be seen below.

The first of three weddings we photographed last weekend took place at the lovely Bashall Barn near Clitheroe in Lancashire.

Kim and James are old friends and so this wedding was a delight to photograph.

Bashall Barn is a wedding venue we hadn’t been to before – set at the very heart of the UK, equidistant form coast to coast and from Land’s End to John O-Groats. It set amongst amazing countryside with a quaint vintage interior that is bright and airy – just perfect for wedding photographers.

We met Kim two hours before the wedding at the Mecure Foxfields Hotel near Blackburn where we photographed some pre -wedding shots before travelling the short distance to Bashall Barn (you need a Sat – Nav, it’s not easy to find!)

Just a few of the photographs we took are shown below.

Last weekend we were at the lovely Sandhole Oak Wedding Barn in Cheshire, just north of Congleton. Regular visitors to this blog will know that we visit this venue many times each year and that it is one of our favourite wedding venues in Cheshire.

We had the pleasure of photographing Helen and Paul – and the weather fantastic……. for the bride and groom! (us wedding photographers dont really like bright sunshine, as people end up squinting or being photographed in harsh shadows)

We started by photographing the groom having a quick ‘pre-wedding’ drink across the road at the great Waggon and Horses public house, which was already decorated for a halloween party.

The wedding ceremony went without a hitch and everyone retired outdoors for a glass of champagne afterwards to enjoy the sunshine. The bride even went to visit the tame goats, that are one of the attractions of the venue, to have some photographs taken.

It was a lovely wedding (as usual at this great venue) and we were made to feel very welcome at Helen and Paul’s special day – thank you!

A few pictures from the wedding at Sandhole Oak Barn can be seen below.

We braved the weather on Saturday and ventured into deepest, darkest Cheshire for the fanstatic wedding of Stephanie and Mark and the lovely Nunsmere Hall wedding venue.

It is a few month since we were last at a wedding at Nunsmere Hall, but it hadn’t changed a bit – well manicured grounds, a beautiful period interior and professional staff (especially the bowler hatted ‘butler’ who takes good care of everyone)

The weather was truly awful – but the rain stopped just as the ceremony finished to enable us to go outside into Nunsmere’s lovely gardens for photographs, before starting again just as Mark and Stephanie sat down to eat.

There were well over 100 guests at the wedding – filling Nunsmere Hall to is capacity – and they were all friendly and fun!

We returned from the wedding at 10pm and processed the pictures through the night so the bride and groom could see them the next day – a great service that enables the bride, groom and guests to see the good professional photographs before most of the ‘camera-phone’ images posted to Facebook by friends.

Many thanks to Mark and Stephanie and all the staff at Nunsmere Hall for making us so welcome at the wedding. You made a wedding photographers job very easy.

Last Friday we had the pleasure of photographing the wedding of Helen and Alastair at the fantastic Sandhole Oak Wedding Barn – the best wedding venue in Cheshire.

The weather was perfect, the guests fun and friendly, and the bride and groom were amzing to work with. They are now sunning themselves in Bali – so have a great time guys and see you on your return.

Last weekend we were once again at the amazing Sandhole Oak Wedding Barn to photograph the wedding of James and Amanda.

As wedding photographers in Cheshire we spend a lot of time at Sandhole Oak Barn – and it has become one of our favourite wedding venues.

The wedding was a fantastic event with Amanda arriving at Marton Church (the oldest half timbered church in the UK) in a Roll Royce Phantom looking lovely in her ivory wedding dress.

We had two wedding photographers at the event – myself and Dan Lloyd. Dan has now bben woth the company just over a year and is becoming a very accomplished wedding photographer. He spent the morning with Amanda as she got ready for her wedding while I spent the morning with ‘the boys’ at The Plough in Eaton and The Davenport in Marton.

The ceremony went without a hitch and the weather was beautiful (a bit too bright for us wedding photographers but perfect for the bride). Sandhole Oak Barn was at its  best and made for very easy wedding photography.

Some pictures form this great day can be seen below. Other images from Sandhole Oak Barn can be seen by clicking the links below.

Another stunning wedding was photographed by us at the lovely Soulton Hall in Shropshire.

The Hall itself is steeped in History set on a 500 Acre estate. A Norman castle,  Medieval gardens, Tudor watermill, and Bronze Age ring ditches make it a delight for wedding photographers. The weather was well behaved which made taking pictures a pleasure. What a great wedding venue (and a great couple.)

See below for a few photos from Alexandra & Jonathan’s happy day.

Just a few pictures below from a lovely wedding at the stunning Armathwaite Hall in The Lake District. The wedding was some time ago we neglected to add any pictures to this blog. So here are a few for you to enjoy!

The wedding was photographed in typical Lake District weather (ie raining!) but Armathwaite Hall still looked great and it didnt ruin the wedding photographs.

Heres hoping our next visit to a wedding at Armathwaite Hall will be in better conditions!
