Northwest Photography - About Us

Northwest Photography was formed in 1997 by Michael McCann. Already an experienced photographer he realised that digital photography offered many advantages over traditional film photography and so started a company based in Cheshire that would produce modern, artistic and creative photographs for wedding couples.

After each wedding we get feedback from brides and grooms and use this to continually improve our service. The most common testimonial we get is that we "don't intrude and get in the way" . Our policy is to 'let the day unfold' and capture the atmosphere of the event without being controlling.

We understand no two weddings are the same, and so we meet with wedding couples twice before the 'big day' to discuss exactly what is required . One of these meetings is usually at the wedding venue a month before the ceremony.

We go to great lengths to ensure our service is personal, friendly and professional and offer services that other photographers just can't provide.

You get the copyright to your pictures so you don't have to buy prints and enlargements from us.

You get to see your pictures within 48 hours of the ceremony - we post them to the internet in your own private area.

All artistic manipulation of the images (air-brushing etc) is performed free of charge

We can 'webcast' your wedding live over the internet so that friends and family can view the event 'as it happens' from a PC anywhere in the world.

We create stunning digital art books (sometimes called coffee-table books or story books) that you yourself design with us, ensuring you get exactly the album you want.

We create for you a fabulous MTV style video using pictures from your wedding set to music. (see our blog for examples)

Our prices are plain and simple with no hidden extras and are openly published here on the site without you having to inquire first.

Our initial meeting can be arranged in the convenience of your own home one evening, when we will gladly explain the services we offer, find out about your exact requirements and show you examples of our work. All with no obligation or charge.

Michael McCann B.A. SWPP BPPA MRPS

Michael's first experience in photography was at York University when he studied photography and music as part of his degree. After initially pursuing a career in music, television and computing he formed Northwest Photography in Cheshire in 1997. The company he gone on to be one of the most successful wedding photography companies in the UK with over 85% of all business being generated from recommendations.

He recently got married himself !.... to the lovely Carol, who now looks after the administration within the company.

His interests (other than photography!) are music (he plays trumpet, cornet and classical guitar), sailing (is a qualified yacht master) and skiing.

Danielle Calder

Danielle joined Northwest Photography in 2006 when Michael McCann spotted her talent for creative photography. She worked as a product development executive for a large retail company where taking photographs formed part of her training and job.

During the 4 years she has worked for us she has become skilled at taking not only the more formal wedding photographs but also the wacky, wayout, contemporary images that now form part of Northwest Photography's house style.

Her other interests include exotic cats, keeping ferrets and fashion design.

Carol McCann

Carol is the company administrator. She make sure all the paperwork is up to date and that our diaries are correct so we always know where we need to be.

She has spent most of her working life in Cheshire working as a PA in the Dept of Work and Pensions but since her marriage to Mike, looking after him and the company has become her full time job.!

Her hobbies include keeping pedigree cats (4 in total), musical trivia and drinking wine.
